We are the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) of CaroMont, and we are personally affected by the restrictions on our practice. We are healthcare professionals who have completed advanced clinical and educational requirements, as well as become board certified by nationally regulated agencies - yet we are not granted full practice authority. This limitation affects not only us but also the patients we serve.

The SAVE Act (Senate Bill 143/House Bill 185) aims to modernize healthcare in North Carolina by granting full practice authority to APRNs. It would allow us to provide a wider range of services and improve access to care, particularly in rural areas where there is a shortage of physicians.

According to a study published by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), states that have implemented full practice authority for APRNs saw an increase in access to care, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. Furthermore, The National Governors Association has recognized that expanding scope of practice laws for nurse practitioners could help alleviate physician shortages.

We urge CaroMont Health - one of North Carolina's leading health systems - to publicly support this vital legislation. By doing so, CaroMont can help pave the way for better healthcare delivery across our state.
