Urge Carlsbad City Council to Pass a Cease-Fire Resolution for Gaza

Urge Carlsbad City Council to Pass a Cease-Fire Resolution for Gaza
The Issue
I am a Carlsbad citizen. And all 25 years of my life I have been a part of this community. But most ardently, I am a human being. I want to see justice and empathy in solidarity with the people of Palestine. And I want to see it flow out of our community.
The ongoing decades of conflict, displacement, and martyrdom in Gaza has resulted in the horrific loss of over 34,000 innocent Palestinian lives just in the past 250 + days, due to relentless and calculated bombings of 'safe zones,' hospitals, and overall citizen populated areas, and eradicating the infrastructure, agriculture, historical buildings, and religious areas of the Gaza Strip. This humanitarian crisis - this genocide, because we must call it what it is - demands immediate action from all corners of the world, including our own community here in Carlsbad.
Carlsbad is often in a bubble, where we are polarized by the passions of the youth, the stagnancy of the elder generations, and those that fall in between. The general attitude of our community organizations & government has been that it is simply not our fight. This beckons the belief that we don't have a community that encompasses people of so many different cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds. That we "don't" have a community where Palestinian Americans exist.
By passing a cease-fire resolution, we can stand together against violence & injustice and show our support for peace and fundamental human rights - like water, food, shelter, health, life. Let us urge the Carlsbad City Council to take this crucial step towards ending the bloodshed and promoting global solidarity with the people of Palestine. Our city's morality is being tested and our youth, our students, our Carlsbad locals, our elected officials, everyone - must recognize their capability in paving the way for a future that Carlsbad can be proud of. Because it will be that we stood on the right side of history - especially when it matters most.
Please sign this petition to help bring this change and humanity to our city's doorstep.
