Urge Cardiff Council to Install Anti-Climb Barriers on Gabalfa Interchange

The Issue

I am deeply moved to start this petition due to the overwhelming reports of increasing numbers of individuals who find themselves  over Gabalfa Interchange when they feel they cannot carry on anymore. This place should be a conduit for life and movement, yet has sadly turned into a stage for despair and loss. It's time the Cardiff Council addressed this urgent matter by installing climb-proof barriers around Gabalfa Interchange and the surrounding bridges.

This intervention is not just a matter of public safety, but also a responsibility towards our community members who may be struggling with mental health issues. According to the Prevent Suicide Alliance UK, over 6,000 people die by suicide each year in the UK, and a significant proportion of these episodes occur in public places like bridges and interchanges.

The cost to the Council for such an installation would be minuscule as compared to the immeasurable cost of a life lost to a family and community. In view of public safety and the welfare of our community members, Cardiff Council could hardly find a more worthy investment.

Let's work together to provide a safer, more nurturing community for our fellow Cardiff residents who may find themselves in a time of crisis. Your signature can help drive the Cardiff Council to make the Gabalfa Interchange and surrounding bridges safer. Act now. Sign this petition.
