As a resident of Vallejo, CA, I am deeply concerned about the safety of my community. Our city has been grappling with escalating crime rates due to severe understaffing in our local police department. We deserve a clean and safe city where we can live without fear.

Vallejo is currently experiencing an alarming increase in crime rates. According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, our city has one of the highest crime rates in California for cities of similar size. This situation is exacerbated by the fact that our police department is severely understaffed and leading to longer response times and decreased effectiveness in preventing crimes.

Vallejo has become a regular location for large and violent sideshows primarily started by non residents.  Drug crime, shootings and shoplifting are increasingly commonplace.  Prostitution on Sonoma Blvd/Hwy 29 in particular is rampant. Our streets are dangerous to drive or walk along due to excessive speeding.  Businesses and residents are unsafe due to slow or nonexistent police response times. 

We believe that additional support from California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Sheriff officers could significantly help address this issue. Their presence would not only bolster our local law enforcement capacity but also serve as a deterrent for potential criminals.

Therefore, we are petitioning Governor Newsom to deploy CHP/Sheriff officers to assist Vallejo with its spiraling crime problem. This action will provide much-needed support for our overworked police force, aid in reforming our department currently under consent decree from the State DOJ and contribute towards making Vallejo a safer place for all residents.
