As a Jewish individual residing in California, home to the second largest Jewish population in the United States, I feel deeply affected by the events surrounding Israel. On October 7th, Israel endured an attack that touched not just Israel but the Jewish community around the globe. Recognizing this day as a Day of Observance for Israel in California would honor those whose hearts sadden each time we remember what happened on that day.

California, with its Jewish population exceeding half a million has a moral obligation to express sympathy and solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters in times of hardship. A proclamation by our state's governor would send a strong message, not just to Jews in California or the United States, but to the world that we stand against violence and are committed to peace and justice. 

Let's urge the governor to take a step that symbolizes peace, empathy, and unity. Sign this petition to appeal for October 7, 2024 to be officially declared as a Day of Observance for Israel in the State of California.
