Urge Bell Rogers Fido Telus & Freedom to Provide Free Calls to Iran

The Issue

The current war in Iran has left all of us with a void of uncertainty, emotional distress, and an overpowering need to connect with loved ones who are facing unimaginable hardships. As an Iranian living in Canada, my heart aches with every media report of turmoil and disconnection. The Iranian community here is frantically grappling with the devastating news we receive while our ability to contact family members grows increasingly limited. The internet down, and the ongoing unrest intensify our anguish.

Living oceans apart from those whom we hold dear is already a difficult reality. Still, moments like these exacerbate the emotional distance, creating an urgent necessity for direct communication. Iranian families in Canada must be able to connect with their family members and friends in Iran without the financial burden that international call rates currently impose. In light of the situation, I call on Bell, Rogers, Fido, Telus and Freedom to provide free international calls from Canada to Iran.

Providing free call services during critical times isn't an unprecedented notion. Various telecommunication companies globally have lifted fees during crisis periods to enhance global connectivity. By removing the prohibitive cost barriers to communication, Bell, Rogers, Fido, Telus and freedom can play a significant role in supporting both the Iranian community in Canada and their loved ones facing distress back home.

Furthermore, there are substantial precedents for telecom companies waiving fees during times of crisis around the globe. For instance, during the 2011 disasters in Japan, several international phone service providers offered free calls to ensure that families could stay connected. We urgeBell, Rogers, Fido, Telus and Freedom to facilitate this same level of community support that could mitigate the psychological and emotional toll being faced by countless individuals.

By signing this petition, you will be helping foster empathy, support, and community awareness that can lead to actionable change. Let's come together to ensure that the voices of Iranians in Canada and Iran are heard and that no one suffers alone due to disconnection. Please sign this petition and help bridge the communication gap in these dire times.
