I am writing this petition as a concerned citizen deeply troubled by the current international political climate and the state of social and economic structures within our global communities. The recent devastating events unfolding in Ukraine have shown us the extent of the hardships that stem from political aggression. It is with this concern in mind that I urge the Australian government to take a principled stand against the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the upcoming G20 meeting in the USA.

Australia has a proud history of standing up against injustices and supporting the sovereignty and dignity of nations under threat. Yet, inviting Putin, whose government continues to violate international laws and engage in acts of aggression, sends a dangerous message of tolerance to wrongful behaviour. Not attending the G20 if Putin is invited would reaffirm Australia's commitment to human rights and international peace, setting a precedent for other nations to follow.

Furthermore, I call upon the Australian government to actively lobby other G20 members to join this boycott. The collective refusal to attend a meeting with a leader who has disregarded international norms could push the meeting to be held in a nation that strongly advocates for peace and global cooperation. This action would demonstrate unity among nations against oppression, showing that we stand together against unwarranted acts of violence and power abuse.

Boycotting the G20 meeting with Putin’s involvement is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a strong statement that calls for accountability on the global stage.
