Urge Attorney General Todd Rokita to Withdraw from Texas vs Becera Lawsuit

Urge Attorney General Todd Rokita to Withdraw from Texas vs Becera Lawsuit
The Issue
My daughter has Down syndrome, a condition marked by developmental and physical growth delays. She, like many others with disabilities, relies on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. This crucial law prohibits discrimination based on disability in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. It's the shield that protects her rights alongside millions of others in Indiana.
Shockingly, Attorney General Todd Rokita is part of a lawsuit, Texas vs Becerra, which threatens to dismantle this shield. A lawsuit that disregards the rights of people with disabilities, threatening their access to equal opportunities and a dignified life.
Approximately 19% of people in the United States have a disability according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Stripping protections granted by Section 504 would overwhelmingly impact nearly a fifth of our population, unjustly imposing barriers on their ability to work, learn, and participate fully in their communities.
Let's stand together in defense of these necessary protections. We appeal to Attorney General Todd Rokita's sense of justice and empathy, asking him to withdraw from the Texas vs Becerra lawsuit. By doing so, he would be prioritizing the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in Indiana and across our nation.
Please, sign this petition to help protect the rights of those with disabilities. Allows us to send a clear message: We are watching. We are standing firm. We will not let our rights to equality and inclusivity be torn asunder.
