Urge Aldi to open or lease the SR. 84 location.

Urge Aldi to open or lease the SR. 84 location.
The Issue
Many residents of the Edgewood, River Oaks and Croissant Park neighborhoods relied on the convenience and affordability that the now closed Winn-Dixie provided. The promise of a new Aldi in its place brought hope and anticipation. Unfortunately, that anticipation has turned into frustration as the opening date has been continually delayed. Originally slated to open in late 2025, recent reports now suggest that the Aldi store located on State Road 84 could be postponed until 2027.
This delay is not just an inconvenience; it deeply affects the daily lives of many local residents, especially our seniors who do not have the means to travel far for their grocery needs. The lack of an accessible and affordable grocery store means that many have to resort to limited options that are more costly, straining the already tight budgets of our community.
Aldi's decision to either fast-track the completion of this location or allow another grocer to rent and utilize the space would provide an essential service to Edgewood River Oaks and Croissant Park, restoring a key community resource. With the rising cost of living, having an affordable grocery outlet is more important than ever.
We urge Aldi to recognize the significant impact of this delay and to act decisively for the benefit of the community it has promised to serve. Our neighborhoods deserve a store that caters to our needs NOW, not years in the future. Let’s come together to push for change and expedite access to essential groceries.
Sign this petition to show Aldi how vital it is for Edgewood and River Oaks to have their grocery store open or, if they cannot do so in a timely manner, to allow another grocer the opportunity to serve our community.
