Urge Airlines to Challenge Unfair Tax Policies Impacting Overseas Pakistanis

Das Problem

I am an overseas Pakistani, one of many who are deeply affected by the rising costs of air travel due to an unjust tax policy. Like many of my peers, visiting my home country of Pakistan to see loved ones has become an increasingly challenging and costly venture. In recent years, an escalating tax imposed on international flights for Pakistanis abroad has led to inflated ticket prices. This has not only restrained us from journeying home but also added an unnecessary financial burden.

An unfair tax policy shouldn't dictate our ability to visit our homeland. As a community, we routinely contribute to the economic stability of Pakistan through significant amounts of remittance. In 2020 alone, overseas Pakistanis sent home over $23 billion, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

Airlines play a crucial role in our lives, connecting us to our families and our country. It is their responsibility not only to provide these links but also to ensure that they stand up for their customers when faced with unjust governmental policies. We ask that airlines demonstrate this responsibility by halting their operations to Pakistan. This act of solidarity would exert pressure on the Pakistan Government to rethink and rescind this oppressive tax policy.

By signing this petition, we urge airlines to take a stand against this intricate issue and support overseas Pakistanis' right to affordable travel. The cost of love and connection should not be inflated by unfair policies. It is time to rally against these arbitrary taxes and ask for justice. Please sign and share this petition.
