Urge Activision Studios to remove the Cease and Desist Order against the H2mod Remastered MW2 Project
The Issue
MW2 remains the most popular Call of Duty in the franchise's history, and I believe it's a travesty how Activision is treating their dedicated player community. As a testament to our passion for the game, when Activision did not release a remastered version of MW2 multiplayer, we stepped up to fill the void. The H2mod team, made up of fans who treasure the game just like Activision does, developed a remastered version out of pure love for the game.
Activision, however, has issued a cease and desist order against this fan-led project, putting an end to the collective joy we've found in updating our favorite game. We're not a business trying to profit from this endeavor - we are a community keeping a game we admire alive.
According to VentureBeat, MW2 sold approximately 4.7 million copies within 24 hours of its release in November 2009, generating around 310 million dollars in North America and the UK alone. This underlines just how popular the game was and continues to be, and moreover, demonstrates the power of the community behind it. With this petition, we are calling on Activision Studios to recognize and respect the dedication and spirit of its fanbase, and consider our collective plea to rescind the cease and desist letter issued against the H2mod project. We ask you to sign this petition to show your support for player-made content and the passionate MW2 community."
