The Issue

In 2004, Chief Master Sergeant Williams was not just an active-duty senior master sergeant serving as an Air Force public health and food safety liaison at AAFES Exchange headquarters, but also the beloved "AAFES hotdog guy". His image became iconic, bringing joy and a sense of camaraderie to many. The picture's popularity even allowed him to jokingly achieve a bucket list goal of becoming an “international model".

Despite his other contributions, it is this image that has remained his magnum opus. Years after its release, the picture would resurface and Williams would receive emails exclaiming “The legend lives on!” This shows how deeply ingrained he is in our hearts.

We are petitioning the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to create a promotional "holiday" on November 4th, William's birthday, named "Chief Williams Day". This day will serve as a celebration of Chief Master Sergeant William's life and his impact on our community. We propose that this promotion includes offering a free hot dog with every purchase of a fountain drink.

This gesture will not only honor Chief William’s legacy but also remind us all about the spirit of service and unity he embodied. Let's keep his legend alive by celebrating him annually in our AAFES exchanges worldwide.

Please sign this petition urging AAFES to establish "Chief Williams Day" on March 14th.
