Youth Environmental Consumers Alliance started this petition to URBN and

Join the Youth Environmental Consumers Alliance in demanding that the URBN conglomerate (which includes Free People, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters) takes responsibility for their overall emissions footprint. URBN currently has some environmental policy, but none of it addresses their manufacturing/ overseas vendors. According to the URBN conglomerate 2020- 10K report to stockholders, URBN contracts over 5,000 overseas manufacturers/ vendors, but they do not seem to track any emissions coming from these manufacturers, and seem to have no policies in place to lower these emissions.

By signing this petition, we call on URBN to join their peers such as American Eagle, Nike, and Adidas, in ADHERING TO THE UNITED NATIONS FASHION INDUSTRY CHARTER FOR CLIMATE ACTION, which is an agreement for fashion industry members to do their part to keep the global average temperature rise well under 2 degrees celsius. The charter also calls on fashion industry members to lower their overall emissions by 30% by 2030, to begin tracking and reporting their emissions, and to look to use renewable energy in manufacturing whenever possible.

By signing this petition we also ask you to stand in solidarity with us, in not shopping at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People, until this request is taken seriously and URBN does their part to mitigate the climate crisis.

The fashion industry accounts for about 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. We CANNOT afford to allow companies as big as URBN to leave their massive emissions footprint unaddressed.
