Covid-19 Pandemic has been an eye opener.

Currently we are on the verge of unlocking the activities of the past. This is the best time for us we to Make right choices and  Be Responsible.
Because our habits affect the habitat of our planet.

Unlocking will lead to usage and creation of waste in large quantities, especially of Face mask , Gloves and other PPE’s.

Poor Waste  management can cause:

2. Pilferage
3. Strain on Resources
4. Environmental Pollution
5. Health risk for Waste Handlers.

How can we wisely manage the COVID-19 Waste Crisis?

According to the guideline by Centre for Disease Control(CDC) Washable masks can be used to prevent the spread of novel corona virus, as long as it covers the mouth and nose. Thus along with providing protection, use of cloth mask will ensure reduction of waste generation.

Wearing gloves does not give additional protection. As per World Health Organisation(WHO), regular hand washing offers greater protection against catching COVID-19 than wearing rubber gloves. Hence it is advised to use gloves discreetly.  

To ensure Safe disposal of masks & Gloves follow the steps suggested by State Pollution Control Boards. 

1. Disinfect the mask /gloves with soap and water 
2. Store it for 72 hours
3. Cut the mask and gloves 
4. Discard in dust bin.
