UPS business practices are fraudulent. Customers can never be sure when and how much will be charged upon delivery. Many times customers are surprised by the brokerage fees and how high they are (generally 50% of the package value). Customers do not expect charges as UPS is not transparent and up-front about its charges.

The extremely high fees charged for brokerage are much higher than the cost of preparing the neccessary forms since most shippers provide package content description to UPS electronically and via the internet costing UPS fractions of pennies. The commercial invoice and release forms are printed by computers and cost virtually nothing (the cost of a couple sheets of paper) therefore the variable %50 of the value of your package is completely unjustified. Whether you ship an item worth 10$ or 1000$ should not matter to UPS if the package is the same size and weight however, the brokerage is currently 5$ and 500$ respectively! Absurd!

We need goverment to put an end to brokerage fees or at least eliminate charging brokerage fees at the receiving end as this is equivalent to a Columbian hosting taking of your package! A low fixed brokerage fee is acceptable for the cost of printing on paper but it should be included on the shipping side where the shipper still has a choice and the cost is obvious!

Please do your part by doing a small things that will make a big difference!
1. Sign the petition!
2. Avoid UPS when shipping
3. When ordering a product, choose another shipper (avoid UPS)
4. Tell the shipper you don't want to use UPS!
5. Tell your friends to avoid UPS
6. If you get stuck shipping with UPS ... call UPS and ask to self-clear immediately!
