Uphold the Rights of People in Gaza and Lebanon, Provide Humanitarian Assistance
The Issue
The humanitarian disasters in Gaza and Lebanon are staggering, with both facing compounding crises that have devastated civilian populations, severely crippled essential infrastructure, and left millions in need of urgent life-saving assistance. Across both regions, hundreds of thousands of civilians are displaced, and aid efforts remain severely hindered by extreme security crisis driven by active hostilities, collapsing infrastructure, and severely restricted humanitarian access.
There are acute shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies for more than 2 million individuals, and many do not have access to essential resources that are fundamental for survival and well-being. The prolonged fighting have severely damaged infrastructure, leaving the civilians defenseless and in dire need of aid, medical care, and basic necessities.
Humanitarian aid has become a lifeline for many people amid this catastrophic scenario. However, several issues, such as logistical difficulties and security concerns have made it difficult to distribute humanitarian assistance. Notwithstanding these initiatives, the crises' scope still exceeds the amount of assistance that can be provided, calling for prompt and ongoing international action.
This campaign seeks to advocate for the rights of people in Gaza and Lebanon to humanitarian aid, including an immediate lasting ceasefire and a massive scaling of humanitarian aid to prevent further famine and displacement. In order to alleviate the severe humanitarian suffering in Gaza and Lebanon and protect their people's fundamental human rights, we advocate for international supporting efforts to stabilize essential health and nutrition services through immediate coordinated action.
Let's Talk About Gaza and Lebanon
- Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza and Lebanon
More than 2 million people in Gaza and Lebanon need humanitarian assistance, and over 90% of the population suffers from severe food insecurity. The majority of the population, according to the World Food Programme (WFP), depends on aid to survive because local food production has been seriously damaged.
- Severe Shortage of Essential Supplies
There is an extremely limited access to clean water, food, and medical supplies. 80% of the necessary food aid does not reach Gaza and Lebanon because of continuous blockades and limitations, putting the people there in danger of starvation and disease outbreaks.
- Impediments to Aid Distribution
Among the many difficulties faced by humanitarian convoys are obstacles and targeted attacks. The necessity for safe and unhindered access to provide life-saving help is highlighted by recent incidents of civilians and relief workers being injured close to distribution points.
Our Commitment
- Promote Justice and Peace
We demand an immediate lasting ceasefire and peaceful resolutions for these deeply interconnected conflicts that relies on implementing long-term diplomatic frameworks and addressing the core grievances of all involved parties with fairness as the core pathway to stability.
- Advocate for Humanitarian Access
We implore all sides to make it easier for those in need in Gaza and Lebanon to receive humanitarian help, such as food, water, and medical supplies.
- Encourage Responsibility
We support accountability and openness in aid distribution to guarantee that aid reaches the most disadvantaged groups without impediments.
