The Issue

Call on the NCAA and college football authorities to consistently enforce eligibility rules and uphold the decision regarding Trinidad Chambliss.

Our Demand
We are calling on the NCAA and relevant governing authorities to stand by established eligibility standards, defend its administrative decisions through all appropriate legal avenues, and immediately enforce ineligibility if the NCAA’s determination is upheld.

Background
On January 9, 2026, the NCAA denied Trinidad Chambliss’s request for a sixth year of college football eligibility. On February 4, 2026, the NCAA denied his subsequent appeal.

The denial centered on his 2022 season at Ferris State. The NCAA determined that the required contemporaneous medical documentation supporting an incapacitating injury or illness was not submitted at the time of the event, and cited institutional records regarding his participation status. Under the NCAA's administrative process, Chambliss’s eligibility was officially exhausted.

Following the NCAA's final administrative denial, a Mississippi state court issued a preliminary injunction permitting Chambliss to play for the University of Mississippi during the 2026 season while litigation continued. The NCAA appealed this ruling, arguing that state-court injunctions bypass established bylaws and undermine equal enforcement across member institutions. The Mississippi Supreme Court subsequently declined to overturn the lower court's temporary injunction.

Why This Matters
This petition is not about personal animus toward an individual athlete; it is about administrative consistency and competitive fairness in college athletics.

Equal Application of Rules: Thousands of student-athletes across the NCAA abide by strict eligibility thresholds. Waiver requirements should not be effectively set aside based on venue or judicial intervention.
Competitive Integrity: Allowing temporary legal relief to override an official NCAA eligibility denial creates an unequal playing field for competing programs and athletes who adhere to the standard waiver process.
Preserving Governing Standards: If the NCAA’s official appeals process determines an athlete is ineligible, that ruling should carry weight across all member conferences.
What We Are Asking
We respectfully request that the NCAA and governing authorities:

Pursue all available legal remedies to resolve the jurisdiction dispute.
Enforce the original February 4, 2026 ruling declaring Trinidad Chambliss ineligible.
Ensure immediate enforcement of ineligibility across SEC and NCAA competition if the administrative ruling is legally validated.
By signing this petition, you support consistent rule enforcement, administrative transparency, and equal eligibility standards for all college football players.
