My family and I are about to become new residents near highways TX-289 and US-380. This move has made the safety conditions and quality of these roads extremely personal to us. We have seen firsthand the steep inclines and dangerous conditions of these highways. The design of TX-289 and US-380 creates significant safety concerns for the community and everyone who uses these roads regularly. Serious accidents are an all too common occurrence - to make matters worse, these roads do not meet the standards for freeways, exacerbating existing issues.

Studies and investigations by transport safety bodies have shown that highways like these contribute significantly to fatal and severe injury crashes. Changing them to full-fledged freeways with controlled access, high-speed traffic flow, and grade-separated junctions would not only enhance safety but also improve efficiency, reducing traffic congestion.

We urge local and state authorities to take urgent and substantial steps to make TX-289 and US-380 full-fledged freeways and significantly reduce their uphill gradients. We press for a commitment to comprehensive future safety measures, potentially saving lives and making these roads safer for use.
