Dear Supporters,

I wanted to thank you all again for signing and sharing the petition to Fix the Narangba Rail Crossing. I’m writing to share an update following my meeting with Shane King MP earlier this week.

We spoke at length—nearly two full hours—about the critical traffic issues at the Narangba rail crossing and surrounding intersections, and the increasing pressure on our roads due to continued growth in the area as well as increased trains. I’m incredibly grateful for the time Shane took to listen and explore possible solutions.

The great news is that Mark Booth, our local Division 2 Councillor, is fully supportive of the petition and the urgent need for change. We discussed a range of possible improvements, including additional overpasses and infrastructure upgrades to improve traffic flow and community safety. Shane has offered to assist in securing state funding and will be taking the petition to Parliament to help us amplify its reach and gain even more support.

So, what’s next?

While Shane works at a state level, I’ll now be focusing on our local council. It’s clear there are differences in what state and local governments can each action—so it’s vital we bring Moreton Bay Regional Council on board as well.

I’ll be requesting meetings with Mark Booth and our Acting Councillor Tony Latter, who is currently filling in following Darryl Grimwald’s resignation. I’ll also be attending a council meeting to formally present the petition and continue pushing for local action.

Shane is also helping me gather statistics on accidents and safety issues at both intersections and the rail crossing. If we can demonstrate a clear safety risk, this may help speed things up.

We also spoke about:

•Quarry trucks using Narangba Road and crossing the tracks—they are not supposed to be, and Shane will be following this up directly with the company.
•The future Gateway Motorway extension west of Narangba, which could help alleviate traffic—though that’s 10–15 years away.
•Improving the wooden bridge on Boundary Road and making an over pass at Main Street/Oakey Flat bend, both of which need serious attention.
•The lack of pedestrian crossings—particularly the difficulty crossing Oakey Flat Road to reach the train station safely.

This is a huge step forward, but we’re far from done.

💪 Please keep sharing the petition:

The more voices we gather, the louder our message becomes.

Thank you so much again for your continued support. I’ll keep you updated as I take the next steps with council and community leaders.

Warmly,

Haley
