The Issue

Out with the old, in with the new. No more confusing our mascot with a kitten or bear. The perfect time to upgrade our mascot is now, especially with the awaited grand reveal of our new stadium in Charlotte, NC. As a devoted Carolina Panthers fan, I have always felt that our mascot should be as fierce and strong as our team and city. Too many times, our beloved mascot, Sir Purr, might easily be mistaken for a cuddly kitten or bear, rather than embodying the powerful panther image the team is named after.

The new stadium is a fresh start and symbolizes the dawn of a new era for the Panthers. It's the ideal opportunity to upgrade our mascot to something that accurately represents the strength and spirit of our team and community. Charlotte, known for its vibrant culture and fervent sports community, deserves a mascot that stands tall as a beacon of pride.

An upgraded mascot could also enhance fan engagement, providing an exciting and dynamic new face that both fans and visitors can rally around. It would influence not just game-day experiences, but also the various community events and initiatives that the Carolina Panthers are involved in throughout Charlotte and beyond.

Sports teams around the country have successfully revamped their mascots to much acclaim, such as the successful transition of Blue from a timid horse to a bold and iconic presence for the Colts. Similarly, it's time for the Panthers to step up and transform Sir Purr into something more reflective of our tenacity both on and off the field.

With your support, we can make this positive change. Sign this petition to urge the Carolina Panthers organization to invest in a new mascot design before our new stadium opens. It's time to give Charlotte and Panthers fans something to really roar about!
