Last Friday night, the unthinkable happened in our community. A beloved local man, a father, and a son, was tragically and fatally stabbed after stepping off the train at Mt Druitt, just trying to get home from work. The most shocking part? His attackers were only 13 and 16 years old.

This tragedy has ripped a hole in the heart of our community and raises urgent questions about the safety measures in place at our local transport hubs and shopping areas. It is imperative that we take immediate and tangible steps to ensure the safety of all our residents.

Our community of Mt Druitt deserves better. We should all feel safe when using public transport, coming home from work, or just going shopping. That's why we are petitioning for a comprehensive upgrade in security measures at Mt Druitt station and the surrounding areas of Dawson Mall.
