Upgrade safety measures in school zones of Mildura West Primary School

Upgrade safety measures in school zones of Mildura West Primary School
The issue
Our children's safety is of paramount importance, yet currently, the pick-up and drop-off zones surrounding Mildura West Primary School fall short in ensuring this safety. As traffic congestion increases during school hours, the existing infrastructure is inadequate to handle the heavy traffic flow, posing a significant risk to our young students. This is a matter that calls for urgent action to prevent potential accidents or unfortunate incidents.
One critical step in enhancing safety is the installation of flashing lights in all school zones. These lights serve as an essential warning to drivers, compelling them to slow down and remain vigilant during times when children are being dropped off or picked up from school. By having these in place, we can substantially reduce the risk of accidents.
Additionally, a secondary crossing is necessary. Multiple crossings will facilitate safer avenues for children and guardians and help in managing the traffic flow more efficiently. This measure will ensure that more children can cross safely without having to contend with impatient drivers or overcrowded crossings.
We seek the intervention of the Mildura Rural City Council to prioritise changes that will upgrade the safety measures around our community's schools. With your support in signing this petition, we can take a stand for our children's right to a safer environment when travelling to and from school each day.
Sign the petition if you want to see these necessary safety upgrades implemented at Mildura West Primary School.
