Well, nearly! 990 at time of writing!

It's the Council Elections today, and I hear our local councillors have been getting plenty of demands to improve our play area as they've been chapping doors over the past month!

Every councillor I have spoken to has been largely supportive about the need for improvement, but at the same time noncommittal about the level of investment until after the election.

The council initially said there was £8k of investment planned, then revised that to £15k. The last email I got from them was that they were 'carrying out a further assessment'.

These are positive steps, but unfortunately I was there today and the gates have been chained up and signs have been put up to say 'play area closed'. I'm not sure if these are genuine or a prank, I've contacted the council to ask them.

Aside from this - they have replaced the broken swing that was chained up, but the swing next to it is now broken! The strap was going in the same place as the other one, a quick check would have shown this and it could have been fixed at the same time.

It's not good enough. We need to keep pushing to make sure we get the required level of investment.

I'll be putting forward the case at the next Govanhill Community Council meeting to try and get them on board, and hopefully Langside after that.

Please keep sharing - this petition is giving me the leverage to demand the park is improved from all the decision makers.

Thanks,

Sean
