We've now reached 775 signatures of people looking to improve the Queen's Park play area! Thanks you to everyone who has signed and shared it!
I was invited to the Shawlands & Strathbungo Community Council meeting last week where I showed them the photos I've taken of the damaged equipment.
I also got to read out some of the comments that people have left. They really help get the message across.
The Shawlands & Strathbungo Community Council is now supporting the campaign and pressing the council to improve the park which is fantastic.
While they can make the case, the park lies in the Southside Central ward. I'm hoping to get to make the case to their community council next.
In terms of support of councillors, Jon Molyneux and Norman MacLeod were at the Community Council meeting and were very supportive, although are limited in what they can do is it's not in their ward.
James Scanlon (Labour) in South Central is supporting:
"When I got your email I went and had a look at the play area. I immediately contacted the parks manager after the visit and requested action to be taken. I of course would support a full upgrade, I know how well used this play area is..."
Soryia Siddique (Labour), Alexander Belic (SNP) and Mhairi Hunter (SNP) have responded to an initial enquiry but have not yet pledged support.
If these are your councillors, can you write to them and ask them to improve the park? Just go to https://www.writetothem.com/ and pop your postcode in.
Thanks again for your support!
