NATHAN HAGARTY MP FOR LEPPINGTON ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE NSW PARLIAMENT.
This week in Parliament of NSW I moved my first motion to highlight the dire need for infrastructure in Leppington. First and foremost, Fifteenth Avenue.
The previous Government's failure to upgrade Fifteenth Avenue has held back our growing community.
The Minns Labor Government has committed to upgrading Fifteenth Avenue and I will make sure this sorely needed upgrade is delivered.

With the previous announcements of the funding for the Rapid Transit way of $320 million plus the additional $50 million in funding for the road upgrade announced as an Election Promise.
THE NEXT STEP
The next step will be to establish a timeline for the construction and also the check on how much road the funding will build.
A REVIEW OF RUBBERY FIGURES
On the 20th March 2022 during the Election Campaign The Mayor of Liverpool made a FB post regarding the cost of constructing a new road
Quick update:
1. We are investing $71.8 million upgrading Edmondson Ave thanks to funding from the NSW Government. The $71.8m will get us 2kms of road approx.
It costs $40 million per kilometre for a four lane road (2 lanes each way). If we want it to have dedicated fast bus lanes as well it would then be $60 million per kilometre.³
I HAVE TO ASK ARE THESE REAL or RUBBERY FIGURES.
IF it costs $40 million dollars per kilometre then a bit more than a kilometre of road is not going very far.
Based on my prior experience I have to ask are these Real or Rubbery Figures OR are they Really Rubbery Figures?
I have it on reliable authority that the cost to build 3kms of Benera Rd in 2019 was $15 million dollars.
I know that we are experiencing inflation but really an increase in road building costs from $5 million to $40 million dollars a kilometre in 3 years?
Something doesn't sound quite right.
Therefore I will be asking for a clarification of the figures quoted by the Mayor of Liverpool. However as the LCC CEO has stopped staff from answering my emails and has also stopped answering my emails himself it might be a challenge.
