The Issue

I am a truck owner with a Category B license, allowing me to drive my 3.5-tonne vehicle. Through personal experience, I have observed that my truck is capable of safety handling additional weight on its bed. Therefore, I feel the need to call for an upgrade to the weight limit from 3.5 tonnes to 4.2 tonnes. With advancements in technology, even electric cars are increasing in weight. It is crucial that the regulations for Category B driving licenses be adapted accordingly. According to Road Haulage Association (RHA), weight limits of trucks and specifications of driving licenses have not been revised in a significantly long time. Meanwhile, vehicle design and construction have made leaps and bounds. There is an urgent need for a modern review of weight limits, ensuring safety and efficiency in our roads. This petition is a call to Transport for London, and other traffic and transportation authorities to review the weight limit for Category B driving licenses. Together, we can make our roads safer and accommodate the needs of modern vehicles. Sign the petition - your participation can make all the difference.
