Upgrade and Improve Woodlawn Park for the Mooreland Oaks Community
Upgrade and Improve Woodlawn Park for the Mooreland Oaks Community
The Issue
As a recent resident of the Moreland Oaks neighborhood, a community of 140 homes full of diverse families, it is of utmost importance to have access to a park that safely meets and exceeds our recreational needs. We, the vibrant community of Mount Holly, are advocating for vital enhancements to our local Woodlawn park.
The park currently does not fully satisfy our requirements for recreation. Swings, monkey bars, towers, and rock walls are absent from the playground equipment, making our children's playtime diversity limited. Safety too is a concern. Instead of soft ground materials that prevent injuries, the current flooring is made up of potentially hazardous wood chips.
Basketball is a beloved sport among our residents; hence, the dilapidated state of the basketball court is disheartening. We crave our social interactions to be wholesome and refreshing. We also would like to introduce a pickleball court to accommodate the diverse sports preferences in our community. As it stands, our park lacks the appropriate areas for such community gatherings and sports activities.
Another aspect of concern is the overall ambience of the park. Picnic tables for family gatherings, an educational garden to instill a love for nature in our children, and designated parking areas for visitors' convenience are all currently missing from Woodlawn Park.
Lastly, in an effort to ensure safety, especially with an increasing number of families moving into Moreland Oaks/ Mount Holly we urge the management to install additional lighting systems and security cameras in the park. This measure is to protect our most valuable asset - our community members.
We wholeheartedly believe in Woodlawn Park’s potential to become the heart of Mount Holly with your help and our collective efforts. By incorporating our suggestions, you will not only enrich our lives but also potentially attract more families to our community, creating a more dynamic and vibrant neighborhood.
Please sign this petition to show your support for upgrading and improving Woodlawn Park for our present and future generations.
