As someone who doesn't own a car, daily tasks can turn into logistical nightmares, as there is no provision for big box stores, restaurants, or libraries within walking distance. This lack of infrastructure not only makes it difficult for residents like me but also affects our quality of life, community engagement, and local sustainability.

Albion is one of the fastest-growing communities in Maple Ridge, yet the current Official Community Plan (OCP) does not adequately address the needs of its residents. The area deserves amenities that can support its growing population. Including big box stores, restaurants, and a library in the OCP would not only provide convenience and accessibility but would also foster social interaction, support local economies, and enhance the overall appeal of the community.

It's essential to update the OCP to reflect the changing demographics and needs of the Albion community. By adding these vital amenities, we can create a more vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable environment. Such changes would align with Maple Ridge's vision for balanced and thoughtful growth while addressing the immediate needs of Northeast Albion residents.

Support from local government, community groups, and residents is crucial to making this change happen. We need to demonstrate to the decision-makers that there is a community-wide demand for these changes. By updating the OCP, we can offer future generations a community that is equipped with the services necessary for a high quality of life.
