We had ~400 signatures in 5 hours (when the meeting started). We now have over 1300, but we need more signatures!

Dr. Truesdale told me on Friday, he wants more input to make a decision. Let’s give it to him!

Please have every person you know sign. That means every person in your household… students, adults, grandparents. Anyone who cares for the young people in our city should sign this petition. 

Aug 10 Board Meeting Update:
The school board met and nothing was mentioned about uniforms at all by the board. No recognition of all of the hard work we have been doing. We’re going to have to do more.

3 people spoke at open comment - me, a student and another D201 resident. We need more people showing and speaking at these meetings.

After we spoke, Reynaldo Camas, the Morton East student board member, spoke up. He called the uniform policy archaic and told the board he wants it changed. He reminded them of the protests by the students and the multiple starts and lack of follow-thru by the board.  He told the board this was a major issue he would not let slide this year and said the board needs to do a better job listening to students.

If you know Reynaldo Camas, please let him know his words were so important and brave! I would like to be better connected to Morton East (I’m in West) so an intro would be much appreciated.

I’m sorry we had to scramble for these last two board meetings, I’m working to get more people involved so we’re better prepared and make a stronger impact at the next one. More Action will be happening soon.
