Over the last few days, this petition has grown to more than 210 supporters, with hundreds of views, shares, comments, and conversations throughout Pleasant Prairie and surrounding communities.
What started as a personal experience quickly revealed something much larger. Since launching this petition, I have heard from numerous residents who have shared similar stories involving boats, RVs, campers, trailers, and other recreational vehicles. While every situation is different, a common theme has emerged: many residents believe there should be a distinction between abandoned or neglected nuisance properties and clean, maintained, registered, insured, and actively used recreational vehicles.
One of the most encouraging parts of this process has been the respectful discussion taking place throughout the community. Supporters and opponents alike have shared their perspectives, helping create a broader conversation about how the ordinance is applied and whether it still reflects the realities of modern recreational vehicle ownership in Wisconsin.
This petition has never been about eliminating ordinances or allowing nuisance conditions. It has always been about encouraging a thoughtful review of the current regulations and determining whether they can be updated while continuing to protect neighborhood appearance, safety, and property values.
Reaching 210 signatures in less than three days shows that many residents believe this issue deserves discussion.
Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, commented, and taken the time to participate. Please continue sharing the petition with friends, family, neighbors, boaters, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts so that Village officials can see how many residents are interested in reviewing this ordinance.
Together, we can encourage a constructive conversation about the future of recreational vehicle parking regulations in Pleasant Prairie.
