Dear Supporters,
First of all, thank you very much for your support!
I am pleased to inform you that the petition has been forwarded to the Editorial Team at Usborne Books and is currently under review. This is a significant step forward in our efforts to advocate for including plant proteins and highlighting the dangers of ultra-processed foods in their publications.
Meanwhile, I have notified three other leading children’s book publishers (NatGeo Kids, DK, and Scholastic) with a strong focus on science education about this petition. This serves as a reminder that the public demands accurate and up-to-date information that benefits both our children’s health and the health of our planet.
This petition is ongoing, and we need to gather as many signatures as possible to emphasize the urgency of this matter to Usborne Books and other publishers.
Let’s continue to share this petition within our social networks and make our voices heard. Every child deserves to know the truth and what’s best for them!
Thanks again, and I look forward to updating you with the latest news. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to share them with me!
Best regards,
Raine
P.S.:
My apologies for sending this update so late. I found myself taking care of a sick child at home recently, preparing only whole-food plant-based meals, and avoiding screen time, all without external help. Never have I felt so strongly about the old saying, "It takes a village to raise a child". Yet, the structure of the modern household, which often includes only parent(s) and child(ren) along with the rising cost of living, has taken so much time from most adults that even preparing a nutritious meal at home is deemed a luxury activity.
Having said that, does it mean we should stop educating our children on the best ways to take care of themselves and the planet just because it is hard to achieve?
I'm glad to receive feedback from some very busy parents that they were not fully aware of the harm of UPFs and the benefits of plant proteins until seeing this petition. This gives me hope that there’s still a chance for more and more people across the world to learn the truth and start taking action.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has signed, shared, and contributed to this petition. Signing off on the second day of the Earth Overshoot Day of this year, and I look forward to providing you with another update very soon.
Take care and stay healthy.
