While Inner City Press has been trying to get back to reporting as before at the UN, these updates have paused. But on May 13, Inner City Press was blocked from covering the UN Security Council, and on the same day a New York Times article came out (see http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/14/nyregion/after-frustrating-officials-a-longtime-un-blogger-has-his-access-curtailed.html?_r=0 and below). The UN is trying to give Inner City Press' long time office to a former UN Correspondents Association president who asks no questions at all at the UN. That's what Ban Ki-moon and Cristina Gallach like, apparently, particularly when it comes their own involvement in the expanding John Ashe / Ng Lap Seng UN corruption scandal, with seven indictments and counting. On May 13, the non-turnstile door to the Security Council was locked during meetings about Lebanon and Liberia, and during a session about peacekeeper rapes, a topic Inner City Press has reported on it detail. This week, even when begrudgingly accompanied by a staff member of the UN Spokesperson's office, UN Security refused to allow Inner City Press through. Inner City Press' office and Resident Correspondent accreditation must be restored.
