Unmarked drop-off paralyzes biker in Chicago - Signage could save lives.@paralyzedbiker

The Issue

I, Jennifer Kraft, was biking one evening and there was no indication that the path dropped off 9 feet. Visually the path looks like it is continuous. I had no time to respond when I flew off the 9 foot drop landing on my helmet; fracturing 3 neck vertebrae, two shoulder blades and puncturing my spine at the chest level; leaving me paralyzed. As this area becomes busier with the beautification along the south Lakefront trail, I do not want any other cyclist to suffer the same fate as I have. There needs to be signs placed along the lakefront trail heading north and south  toward 37th street breakwater walls where this 9 foot drop is constructed which can help keep cyclists and pedestrians safe.
