UNLAWFUL EVICITION - ABUSIVE SLUMLORD OF TALLAHASSSEE

The Issue

UNLAWFUL EVICTION:

Garrison Scott Keys has been an abusive landlord to many and a sexual predator to me.

Mr. Scott Keys has violated Florida Statute Chapter 83.201 as no critical amenities or repairs, such as heating, have been provided. Mr. Scott Keys has ignored my notice to withhold rent following Florida Statute Chapter 83.201.

His treatment of tenants is just as atrocious as their living conditions, and neither does he want to improve. Many tenants, like myself, can claim that Garrison Scott Keys has exerted unlawfully abusive and sexually indecent power over them. Attached are various court documents that demonstrate his abuse as a landlord.

WHATS AT STAKE:

  • I am a budding entrepreneur starting a business with positive prospects for the next quarter. My employment is now at risk because after refusing to obtain drugs on Garrison Scott Keys' behalf and refusing his requests for sexual favors, today, he has reopened my dismissed eviction case.
  • To allow Garrison Scott Keys to continue to be a landlord in Tallahassee will work to disenfranchise and traumatize many future Tallahasseans
  • The precident this sets with what happened in court will foster a landlord friendly legal system within the city, which is in dire need of a move into the opposite direction.

My address is 137 N. Meridian St.
The court case number is 37 2023 CC 004387

I have a separate local case against him as well.

I'm filing an EX-PARTE motion to stay tomorrow. I hope the court grants it.

BACKSTORY

My initial eviction was based on grounds of terminating the lease; this case was dismissed as I did not break the lease terms. I was provided a notice to remedy, which I fulfilled. Furthermore, I have not been delinquent in my rent but diligent with all my rent payments. I even did Mr. Scott Keys a favor when I paid rent three months in advance, as he told me he was struggling financially.

I'm asking this great community of Tallahassee to help me with a petition to stay this eviction and hold Garrison Scott Keys accountable for what he has done to me and so many of his tenants throughout the years. I have social and employment ties to Tallahassee and, for this reason, wish to remain. If I can remain, my employment will allow me to give back positively to this community through job opportunities.
