Online classes, Online exams for EVEN semesters (regular and SOL)
The Issue
The university of Delhi has announced offline classes for all from 17 Feb just because of few protestors who were protesting for the sake of limelights.
For even semesters students almost 1.5 months have gone online and now when the colleges are reopening we are facing the following issues:
# 70-80 % of syllabus was covered in online mode. And for few subjects the classes are still going in an online mode even after the notification for offline conduction of classes.
( We cannot reveal the name because we are the students and we also have some pressure / fear from that )
There are several other courses in which the same issue persists. It's a humble request on behalf of all the students to conduct a survey for the same and look into the matter .
# Even after reopening of the university, the classes didn't held throughout
15/03/2022 - 20/03/2022 : Holi break
21/03/2022 - 27/03/2022 : Internal Assessment (Classes were suspended)
Accompanied with the weekends, 20 working days left as the remainder, till 03/04/2022.
# In case of a science student : 4 hours lab on each working day + 3 hours (theory classes) + 3 hours (travel time) + maintenance of record files on regular basis + project work (final year students of masters)
# The students who come from outstations didn't get opportunity to attend even for those 20 days as they were unable to manage their accomodations due to unaffordable rents, booking issues with tickets, and several others.
# In this pandemic situation we all were suffering from mental trauma in someway or the other due to the chaos around us in the name of COVID-19 virus, which simply got worsen on announcement of the offline exams at such a short notice.
# The students are not backstepping by the fear of appearing in the examination, they are only requesting our university to function on a simple equation which is "As is the mode of studies, so should be the mode of examination"
# Some students from outstations who are appearing for the UPSC, SSC , CA and many other competitive exams have filled in centres in their hometowns (before reopening of DU) so they are unable to manage to go back to give their exams and come back to Delhi for semester exams.
# Many students have joinings of various govt jobs some have to go for tournaments and other games .
I'll be highly obliged if you could rhelp us on the issue of requesting Open Book Examination (OBE) in online mode based on above grounds only for this semester.
So we request the University to keep this semester online for us and take online exams as we have prepared half of the semester online and reopen from the very 1st day of next semester . We also need sometime to prepare us mentally for offline education after 1.5 years of online experience.
Hope the University will support us !!
