Stop Supporting Animal Cruelty

My name is Taylor and I am animal lover and advocate. While visiting University of Vermont's webpage for their dining, I saw statements about sustainability efforts and making the right decisions to protect the students they serve. Unfortunately, University of Vermont contracts with Sodexo, a food service company that is doing the exact opposite. Sodexo uses liquid eggs from cruel, filthy, and unsustainable battery-cage farms.
Battery cage farms pack egg-laying hens so tightly into tiny wire cages that they can’t even spread out their wings or engage in any of their natural behaviors.
This archaic practice is so cruel that it is illegal in the entire European Union and several states in the US. Other major companies like Unilever, Delaware North Companies, Burger King, and more have made commitments to phase out the purchasing of all eggs from farms that use this terrible practice. Sodexo even refuses to work with the The Humane League, an animal protection organization that I volunteer for, to assure they will phase out eggs from cruel battery-cages.
Why then is University of Vermont contracting with a hospitality company like Sodexo? By contracting with Sodexo, University of Vermont is directly supporting this cruel practice. When I learned that this cruelty was being supported, I knew that I had to do something about this problem. Please, sign my petition and ask University of Vermont to urge Sodexo to end this extreme animal cruelty and completely phase out the use of battery-cage eggs.
