Help UTA Students Create a New Safe Space for Meditation and Prayer.

The Issue

Stress is an undeniable part of the University experience. Thousands of us have had to struggle between the load of school, work, relationships, mental health, physical health, and our personal lives. None of this is easy, but our faith is one of the few things that helps us get through these difficult times. UTA currently offers us a room in Hammond Hall, a room that becomes uncomfortably cold in the winter, a room with dirtied carpets, minimal lighting, and a room far and away from the hub of campus. Students must make the trek from Nedderman and other popular buildings, for essential prayers and then make the long walk back.

It's simply impractical for us to continue having a room that it is inaccessible and outdated for so many of our students. Must we make a ten minute walk for one minute of peace? Do students have to head to their cars to staunch the flow of tears and the pounding in their heads? We MUST create a safe space within the library that so many of us spend so much of our time in.

All that we ask is that the University grants us a room within the library so that we may make our prayers and repair our fraying relationship with God, and find some solace in a world that grants us very little. A place where one can find some peace and quiet in a world that demands so much, a place to meditate, and reflect, and take a deep breath. So please help us in achieving this goal. Thank you and God bless.
