University of Sheffield: reverse the decision to delay results day 2021

University of Sheffield: reverse the decision to delay results day 2021
The Issue
The University of Sheffield decided on the 16th of April 2021 to postpone results day by a week to the 16th of July 2021.
As a consequence official degree transcripts will not be available until the earliest date of the 26th of July and at the latest date 30th of July. This means we will not be able to provide evidence of our achievements to future employers and further education before this date of 26th of July.
With in person graduation confirmed to be cancelled this year we now have no details about how and when we will obtain degree certificates.
Many students have applied for graduate jobs, postgraduate study and more, which require evidence of degree classification and results to be provided in tight deadlines and many cannot afford the wait this delay will cause.
With the lack of support provided by the University this year and the insistence to carry on as normal this is not acceptable. This decision was made with disregard for the implications for students already disadvantaged, with an excuse of the ‘ongoing impact of COVID-19’ to delay.
Please do not jeopardise our futures with this delay. We appeal to the student union representatives to take action against this decision as well.
