Accessible Icon U of S: Change The Sign, Change The Attitude

The Issue

There is still too much discrimination and stigma against people with disabilities. A simple updating of the International Symbol of Access is an easy and inexpensive way to empower people and reduce stigma surrounding disabilities.

The old Accessibility Logo:

"'Presents the person as alone, immobile and vulnerable.'
'They look like they are waiting to be pushed by someone.'"

The new Accessible Icon:

"'It is modern and sleek, portraying legs, arms and body in forward motion suggesting independence, strength, inclusiveness, activity and participation.'"

This logo hasn't been updated in almost 40 years. Please sign this petition to raise awareness for and support this issue, as well as to encourage the University of Saskatchewan and the city of Saskatoon to adopt the new Accessible Icon.
