The University of Oregon Duck Dancers Dance Team has been representing the University of Oregon on the national stage since 2001 with 13 of those years being at the Universal Dance Association Collegiate Championship. 

This year, while preparing for the 2025 championship, they were reported for being a club team by their University. Because of this, paired with the stripping of athletic spirit opportunities by the University of Oregon, they were told that they were unable to compete at the 2025 Championship just a month before departing. 

With perseverance, strength, and grace, the team still attended the 2025 Championship and performed an exhibition in both the D1A Jazz & Pom categories. In addition, they were able to compete at the ICU World Cup Cheerleading Championship where they were crowned World Champions in both the Jazz and Pom Categories representing the United States.

The team's future at UDA now remains unknown as all of this stems from restrictions placed on the team by administrators within the athletics and marketing departments at the University of Oregon. The University of Oregon Duck Dancers Dance Team is asking for your support to help prove to the University of Oregon why they should enact change within what spirit looks like at the University of Oregon.  

It is essential that the University of Oregon supports all spirit groups and sets them up for success. The UO Duck Dancers are asking that you sign this petition in support of adding the Duck Dancers as a recognized spirit team at the University where they can work collaboratively with all spirit programs currently recognized by the University of Oregon.
