Remove the statue in front of Gaylord

The Issue

The statue that was placed in front of Gaylord was created by a man that doesn’t exhibit the type of characteristics the University of Oklahoma teaches its students. In the 1970’s he adopted a dog from a shelter, tied it up, and shot it in cold blood on film. He then proceeded to label it as, “art.” Although this was many years ago, this is a mistake that can be forgiven, but not forgotten, and letting him show his work on the greatest campus in the nation is not where it belongs. We believe the art that is exhibited on this campus should come from someone who routinely shows love, compassion and care for its community. We believe the University of Oklahoma has an unspoken standard, and this statue does not meet that standard.
