The UNI Administration is participating in performative empathy for the Black Lives Matter movement, and we are beyond disgusted by their inaction. They have proven time and time again their disregard for Black lives on our campus. The Racial and Ethnic Coalition has been attempting to work with UNI Administration for 2 years to create meaningful systemic change on our campus, and have been pacified, disregarded, and suppressed in our efforts. We are tired of being told by the administration that they care, while they actively continue to allow systems of white supremacy and racism to prevail at UNI. We would like to demand that they actually do something. 

By signing this petition, you are requesting that the following demands of the Racial and Ethnic Coalition be met:

UNI will cut ties with both the Waterloo and Cedar Falls Police Department.

UNI will disarm all campus police.

UNI will stop the purchasing/sourcing of furniture and other goods from prison labor, also known as modern day slavery.

UNI will adopt the CSSJ Proposal created by the Racial and Ethnic Coalition, and will address all other demands/issues listed in the mentioned proposal.
