Save Sahara and Times Square Deli!

Save Sahara and Times Square Deli!

The Issue

There is a man works at Sahara in the student union building. I met him two years ago when he came to my ESL class.   He served as a translator during the Gulf conflicts and then he came to the US as a refugee. He has been working multiple jobs despite struggling to learn to read and write in English. He worked very hard in my class. Even though he struggled he brought me traditional food from his country.

When I became a Graduate student at UNM- I would stop in and say hello to him.  When I became pregnant he showed me pictures of his newborn son.  He has time and time again asked me to meet his wife.

He is a good man. He is one student I will never forget. There are other Men who work there who may also struggle finding new jobs  They work hard, they are trying to make the American Dream their reality.  If Sahara is replaced by Subway, they will have to start again.

Please show your support of both this small local business and the American Dream!  Let's gather at least 1000 signatures to show our support!
