UNLV parking pass prices have been on a steady and ruthless incline. Just in 2014, the student annual parking pass was $125. Starting 2018, that price rose to a whopping $150, a 20% increase! 

Now in 2021, UNLV has risen all parking prices by 40%, making the annual student parking pass $210. That is not a typo!!

Amidst people struggling in the previous and current year during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC to make ends meet, even after UNLV’s Parking and Transportation FAILED to adequately refund UNLV students for purchased parking passes in 2020 when classes went REMOTE... UNLV expects us, the students, the faculty, to compensate their losses with a 40% spike in parking pass prices? For parking spots that are already too few to accommodate for the entire student body? For parking spots that are prioritized the least for the student body, first and foremost?

NO! We SHOULD NOT continue to allow UNLV to increase parking pass prices willy-nilly, without even an ounce of expansion in return, without ANYTHING in return, to be exact.

Wanting to get an education to better ourselves, to better our futures, to get the careers we want SHOULD NOT come with hefty and unfair parking pass prices. Tuition is already high enough as it is!
