Year after year students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha have been increasingly exploited by parking services. This year alone parking services has managed to remove the one time yearly waiver that students have been allowed in many years past. This waiver is necessary during the first weeks of school where chaos increases the probability of parking mistakes and ultimately fees. Many incoming freshman students are not yet familiar with the rules and are targeted with unnecessary tickets. By removing the waiver it doesn't allow students to be given a warning and make up for their parking mistake. As well, the city of Omaha has imposed zones where students who already own surface parking must pay an additional fee to park an areas where this was not necessary in years past. Due to the new rules that only focus on filling the pockets of those that profit from the Nebraska system there has been an increase use of boots throughout campus. The increase use of boots is utter harassment to those students that seek a higher education and aren't given opportunities to improve. The only way to once again give students their freedom and not be exploited for parking at a school they already pay for is by removing the UNO parking manager who has pulled all of the strings to dig deeper in students pockets with these new unethical rules.
