Subject: Mumbai University Law Exams deliberately being clashed with Company Secretary Exams.

Reference: 1. Circular "No.Exam./SC./FH/H/17 of 2018 dated May 15, 2018.

2. Examination time table.

Dear Sir,

This is on behalf of the students who are pursuing BLS LLB or LLB at colleges affiliated to Mumbai University and also pursuing the course of Company Secretary (CS) from ICSI.

The CS exams conducted by ICSI is an all India level examination, the timetable of which is declared 8months prior and is constant. The CS examinations are to be held from 1st June to 10th June and the time table for the same was also communicated to the officials of Mumbai University on 29th January, 2018.

Mumbai University Law Exams were scheduled to commence in April, 2018, however due to the inordinate delay in declaring results of previous examinations MU postponed the Law Exams to be mid May, 2018. However until mid May, 2018 MU failed to declare the previous Law Exams results and therefore the Law Exams are further postponed and shall commence from 30th May as per the above referred circular.

The CS Exams are to be conducted from 1st June to 10th June and at the last moment on 17th May MU has declared a time table by virtue of which Law Exams shall clash with CS Exams.

With the aforesaid clash of Examinations a student pursuing both the courses will have to drop either one of the course as giving 2 exams on a day will be stressful and not doable as CS exams are held on continuous basis and in such circumstances a student will be wasting his academic year and also have a blot to his career as a repeater in one of the courses.

It shall be pertinent to note here that even previously in December, 2017 the Law Exams were scheduled in order to clash with CS Exams and after strong protests they were rescheduled so as to not clash with the all India CS Exams. Further with a view that such hardships do not recur on 29th January, 2018 the MU authorities were given the CS Exams time table for June, 2018.

Therefore in view of the aforesaid circumstances it is most humbly requested that Law Exams be rescheduled so as to not clash with the all India CS Exams and also henceforth the MU must not each time deliberate clash the Law Exams with CS Exams and inconvenience several thousands of students.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

CS and LLB students.
