Suspend Mizzou Classes Wednesday (February 5th) For The Chiefs Victory

The Issue

The University of Missouri is home to many fans of the Kansas City Chiefs. Due to their recent comeback victory against the San Fransisco 49ers, they have been declared Super Bowl champions. The last time the Chiefs had won the Super Bowl was 50 years ago against the Minnesota Vikings, 1970. This historic event is being celebrated in Kansas City on, Wednesday, Feb. 5th at 11 am with a parade and ceremony. Many students will likely attend, causing mass absences within Mizzou classes. To avoid this, we suggest canceling classes on this day to allow our students to celebrate this historic occasion. And, on top of this, we don't want to be outperformed by KU, for they have already called off school for the celebration. We hope that the chancellor, Alexander Cartwright, will see reason and cancel classes for the day.
