Students of Mizzou are currently being lied to and mislead. This petition is meant to raise awareness and bring attention to the disappointing truth of the recycling program at Mizzou. When walking around Mizzou's campus you will see many recycling stations and even signs about the importance of recycling. This is very misleading since it has recently come to student's attention that there is no active system for recycling. All of the bins and recycling containers all go to the exact same place, a landfill. Mizzou preaches transparency and accountability but puts on an act to appear better to the public. It is time for students and anyone that understands the importance of sustainability to speak up against Mizzou's unacceptable behavior. We fund Mizzou and we should have a say in how it is run. It is time for Mizzou to take into account our wants instead of just our money. Each student pays around $3 that is labeled as a "sustainability" fee every year. This adds up to around $90,000, but where does this money go? The sustainability office has been shut down for two years, recycling is a facade, and a green campus is nowhere close to being achieved. As students, we should demand transparency and action for our own money. By signing this petition we are demanding change and creating a better future for our planet.
