Petition Closed

Judging by the homophobic words and actions of top Chick-Fil-A executives, and the $2 million donated by the company to homophobic organizations such as the Marriage & Family Foundation in 2010 alone, it is clear that Chick-Fil-A does not represent the values embraced by the University of Maryland community. Allowing such an organization to continue to operate in the SSU runs counter to the spirit of equality that the University claims to champion.

Sign this petition to call on the University of Maryland to replace the Chick-Fil-A currently in the Stamp Student Union with a more accepting - and healthier! - dining option.

For more info about Chick-Fil-A's homophobic CEO & their donations to anti-gay causes (including the Family Research Council, which has spent thousands of dollars lobbying Congress not to condemn Uganda's "kill the gays" legislation):

Furthermore, Chick-Fil-A has a long history of bullying small business owners. If you needed another reason to get behind this petition, here it is:

Letter to
University of Maryland Dr. Marsha Guenzler-Stevens, Director of the Stamp Student Union
I just signed the following petition addressed to: University Of Maryland.

----------------
Remove Chick-Fil-A from the Stamp Student Union food court.

Given the homophobic words and actions of top Chick-Fil-A executives, and the $2 million donated by the company to homophobic organizations such as the Marriage & Family Foundation in 2010 alone, Chick-Fil-A does not represent the values embraced by the University of Maryland. Allowing such a bigoted and hateful organization to continue to operate in the SSU runs counter to the spirit of equality that the University claims to champion.
