Timmy Camilleri started this petition to University of Malta. and

Students sitting for exams in 2019 had two chances to gain the points they needed to be admitted into University; Just as Students in 2021 will. So What exactly makes us in 2020 so different?

In a year where most of us would press a hypothetical reset button if given the chance, Matsec have decided that the results of our December resits, organised in the wake of the horribly handled September sessions, will not count towards 2020/21 admission.

There was no grand announcement and there was no outcry.  This decision, like many others made by the Ministry for Education this year, was taken quietly and in line with the examination board's typical indifference towards the students it oversees. And, despite what they may insist, their choice puts those made to sit for this year's exams at an obvious and significant disadvantage when compared to the students of yesteryear.

The indecisiveness and constant backtracking has not only taken a toll on the collective health of most students (who've have frankly been left to fend for themselves in the long term absence of any direct communication or guidance) but has now proved itself an unfair obstacle to this year's students.

Its time to stop simply putting up with a barely benevolent organisation that accepts no feedback and answers to nobody.

Enough is enough. Make our resits count!!
